My name is Jonathan, a freelance comic book artist and illustrator based in Madagascar with 15 years of professional experience in sequential storytelling, character design, and illustration.
I started my career as a web developer, which gave me a structured, team-orientated work ethic that I carried directly into my art career. Since going full-time as a freelance artist in 2015, I have completed 136+ projects on Upwork with a 5.0 rating, including a 7-year ongoing collaboration with a single client on a complete comic series totalling 890+ hours of work together.
My work covers a wide range of styles and genres. Western comics, manga and anime inspired sequential art, children's book illustration, character design, creature design, action and adventure storytelling, horror, sci-fi, and fantasy. I work digitally in Clip Studio Paint at 300 DPI, delivering fully layered, print-ready files with organised workflows built for long-term production schedules.
Beyond client work, I publish my own original sci-fi webcomic called Beyond Bounty in vertical scroll format, which currently has 4 chapters available online. It is the project closest to my heart and the clearest expression of how I think about visual storytelling.
I am fluent in English and French, comfortable working with international clients across time zones, and genuinely passionate about long-term creative collaborations where the story has room to grow.
